WEEK 1 MATCHUPS: Part 1

It was an exciting first weekend in the Seattle Blue Ribbon League!  Take a look at some of the post-game analysis!

Goodview PrettyBoys 132.5
Rainier Valley Felons 103.5

WHAT WENT RIGHT:  It doesn't matter what the records are, these two teams always battle.  You would, however, have to go all the way back to Week 1 of the 2009 season to find the last Pretty Boys team to defeat the Felons.  2009 was the Pretty Boys won the Queen Anne Division, and they could not be happier to get this win to kickoff 2012.
"First of all, the Felons can suck it," coach Danneker said from his piano at his weekly press conference. "Second, I guarantee a championship for Goodview this year!  Yeah, I said it!  Print that shit!"
The Pretty Boys used a completely balanced attack to take down their rivals.  The Offense put up 67 points, while the Defense and special teams kicked in 65.5.  Tony Romo got things started with 23 points, and the good looking Goodview team never looked back.

WHAT WENT WRONG: The Felons were bitten a bit by injuries.  Jason Witten was a game-time decision, and starting RB Ryan Matthews was unable to go.  This left the Felons to choose between DeAngelo Williams and Shonn Greene...and coach Harber chose wrong.  Williams put up a big fat goose egg, while Greene rumbled to 19 points.
"Hey, what can I say?" Harber said while riding the Light Rail to practice, "The Pretty Boys are the team to beat this year.  We knew we couldn't beat them, so we saved our good stuff for the K-911s this week.  Nothing makes me happier than destroying Lou Olsen."

Buzzcocks 131
K-911s 107

WHAT WENT RIGHT: The Buzzcocks could not have asked for a better start to their first season in the Seattle Blue Ribbon League. Coach Shawn Law took over a team (The Manti) that lost 9 straight games to end last season.  But with some gutsy draft picks, this newly motivated team shellacked the K-911s.
"Look here," Law shouted in the pre-game locker room, "First place? We win and we get laid.  We lose...there is not third place."
Many thought the misquoted Glengarry speech was a rather strange way to fire up the team, but it worked.  QB Matt Ryan put up the game of the week as he punished the K-911s for 31 points.  The Buzzcocks will have to be more balanced though, as 5 of their 13 starters combined for 70% of the team's score.

WHAT WENT WRONG: The K-911s left a bunch of points on the bench.  Granted, it would not have been enough to win, but Navarro Bowman's 14.5 points would have really lifted the squad more than starter Mathias Kiwanuka's 1 point.
"Well, the thing we are most proud of this week," Olsen said while watching his Milwaukee Brewers race back into the playoff picture, "is that we already have 7 guys with injury designations.  The next closest team only has four...so we are twice as good at getting hurt!"

Royale W/Cheese 114.5
Roommates 98

WHAT WENT RIGHT: The Cheese are the highest scoring team per game in PBR league history.  And while the scoreboard might not show that this week, you have to realize that the Cheese left 29.5  points on the bench.  All but one position on offense scored double digit points, showing the team's depth and explosiveness.  The scariest number is that 6 guys on the team put up almost 76% of the points.  So, once that defense finds its way to points...watch out opponents!
"Zippity Zoop! Bring on the Hurricanes!" Coach Cam said while doing his well revered Bill Cosby impression.

WHAT WENT WRONG: The Roommates went young in this year's draft.  It may lead to a bit of a sluggish start, but Coach Gomez showed he was quite a line-up whisperer last season...meaning he could get points from the most unexpected of places.  The place where the Roommates lost this game was on the defensive side of the ball.  Gomez is known for his love of defensive athletes, but in this game the DL and DBs combined to score just 10 points.  Gomez will likely get more from these players in the coming weeks, as well as more experience from his young offense.  So, while it is never good to take a loss, this team is much stronger than the effort it put forward this week.
