Running Backs!

Today we take a look at Running Backs

SCORING RUNNING BACKS

The Top 3:

1. FLUFFERNUTTER
POINTS:  The Fluff have scored 279 points at the RB position

The Fluff have had one of the top backfields in the league ever since the Keepers rule was installed.  RBs Ray Rice and Adrian Peterson are currently #2 and #3 in the league in scoring (trailing only K-911 Arian Foster). Week 11 finally brings Adrian Peterson's bye week, but the Fluff have a capable back up in LaRod Stephens-Howling.  The Fluff have already averaged about 8+ points more per game at RB than the league average...and nearly 14 pt/game more than the worst RB team (Counselor).

2. PRETTY BOYS
POINTS:  The Pretty Boys have scored 240 points at the RB position

The Pretty Boys drafted RBs with their first three picks this season...and it has paid off!  Rookie ball carriers Trent Richardson and Doug Martin have been great finds, and Willis McGahee was brought back to provide some veteran leadership.  Martin has started 8 of the 10 games for the Pretties...and the Boys would rank even higher if he had been started during his 51 point performance in week 9.  Richardson has started 6 games at the other RB spot, with McGahee starting 5 games as well.  The Pretty Boys have a wealth of young, talented RBs and will most likely (barring injuries) be in the top half of the league in RB output for years to come.

3. HURRICANES
POINTS: The Hurricanes have scored 235 points at the RB position

The Hurricanes scored 29 points at RB last week to move past the K-911s, who previously held onto the 3rd position in the RB output standings.  RB Marshawn Lynch has been the steadying force for the Canes this season.  His 127 points rank him #4 in the PBR league (he didn't start for the Hurricanes in week 1, but if he did he would be #3 in the league).  At the other spot, the Hurricanes were riding Darren McFadden...but have recently had enough of his injury issues and therefore shipped him off to the Felons.  Week 11 should be interesting, as the Hurricanes start Shonn Greene and Marcel Reece.  Do not write off the Hurricanes though.  In the three games where McFadden and Lynch didn't start, the Hurricanes have plugged in players that have averaged 12+ points per game.

The Bottom 3:

10. BUZZCOCKS
POINTS: The Buzzcocks have scored 184 points at the RB position

Depth can be a blessing and a curse.  The blessing being that you can cover for injuries and bye weeks.  The curse being that you just never know who is going to perform the best week to week.  The injury bug has certainly hit the Buzz, but they also have started the wrong combination of backs in 4 of the 10 games.  Had they played their top scores, the Buzz would actually rank #6 in RB output.

11. ROOMMATES
POINTS: The Roommates have scored 182 points at the RB position

The Roommates have a great RB in Jamaal Charles.  Charles is averaging 11.4 points per game, and ranks just outside of the top 5 in the PBR league.  The other RB spot is where the Roommates need to find more production.  They have started the second largest amount of RBs at 6 (the K-911s have started 7 different RBs), and are only averaging 7.18 points in games started by someone other than Charles.  Donald Brown had a strong start before being injured, and Vick Ballard has had his moments...but the Roommates will need much more production from the #2 RB in order to make a run into the playoffs.

12.  COUNSELOR
POINTS:  The Counselor has scored 140 points at the RB position

Fun fact (unless you are the Counselor): Two running backs (Arian Foster and Adrian Peterson) have scored more points as individuals at RB than Counselor as a team has scored all season [140 for Counselor.  161 for Foster and 145 for Peterson].  Counselor and the Pretty Boys have used the fewest different RBs with three...but the Counselor has not had nearly as much success.  Reggie Bush started strong, and is still averaging a respectable 9.5 pts/game.  However in the 11 starts that were not Reggie, the other Counselor backs have put up an average of only 4.9 points.
