Running Backs!

Today we take a look at Running Backs

SCORING RUNNING BACKS

The Top 3:

1. FLUFFERNUTTER
POINTS:  The Fluff have scored 279 points at the RB position

The Fluff have had one of the top backfields in the league ever since the Keepers rule was installed.  RBs Ray Rice and Adrian Peterson are currently #2 and #3 in the league in scoring (trailing only K-911 Arian Foster). Week 11 finally brings Adrian Peterson's bye week, but the Fluff have a capable back up in LaRod Stephens-Howling.  The Fluff have already averaged about 8+ points more per game at RB than the league average...and nearly 14 pt/game more than the worst RB team (Counselor).

2. PRETTY BOYS
POINTS:  The Pretty Boys have scored 240 points at the RB position

The Pretty Boys drafted RBs with their first three picks this season...and it has paid off!  Rookie ball carriers Trent Richardson and Doug Martin have been great finds, and Willis McGahee was brought back to provide some veteran leadership.  Martin has started 8 of the 10 games for the Pretties...and the Boys would rank even higher if he had been started during his 51 point performance in week 9.  Richardson has started 6 games at the other RB spot, with McGahee starting 5 games as well.  The Pretty Boys have a wealth of young, talented RBs and will most likely (barring injuries) be in the top half of the league in RB output for years to come.

3. HURRICANES
POINTS: The Hurricanes have scored 235 points at the RB position

The Hurricanes scored 29 points at RB last week to move past the K-911s, who previously held onto the 3rd position in the RB output standings.  RB Marshawn Lynch has been the steadying force for the Canes this season.  His 127 points rank him #4 in the PBR league (he didn't start for the Hurricanes in week 1, but if he did he would be #3 in the league).  At the other spot, the Hurricanes were riding Darren McFadden...but have recently had enough of his injury issues and therefore shipped him off to the Felons.  Week 11 should be interesting, as the Hurricanes start Shonn Greene and Marcel Reece.  Do not write off the Hurricanes though.  In the three games where McFadden and Lynch didn't start, the Hurricanes have plugged in players that have averaged 12+ points per game.

The Bottom 3:

10. BUZZCOCKS
POINTS: The Buzzcocks have scored 184 points at the RB position

Depth can be a blessing and a curse.  The blessing being that you can cover for injuries and bye weeks.  The curse being that you just never know who is going to perform the best week to week.  The injury bug has certainly hit the Buzz, but they also have started the wrong combination of backs in 4 of the 10 games.  Had they played their top scores, the Buzz would actually rank #6 in RB output.

11. ROOMMATES
POINTS: The Roommates have scored 182 points at the RB position

The Roommates have a great RB in Jamaal Charles.  Charles is averaging 11.4 points per game, and ranks just outside of the top 5 in the PBR league.  The other RB spot is where the Roommates need to find more production.  They have started the second largest amount of RBs at 6 (the K-911s have started 7 different RBs), and are only averaging 7.18 points in games started by someone other than Charles.  Donald Brown had a strong start before being injured, and Vick Ballard has had his moments...but the Roommates will need much more production from the #2 RB in order to make a run into the playoffs.

12.  COUNSELOR
POINTS:  The Counselor has scored 140 points at the RB position

Fun fact (unless you are the Counselor): Two running backs (Arian Foster and Adrian Peterson) have scored more points as individuals at RB than Counselor as a team has scored all season [140 for Counselor.  161 for Foster and 145 for Peterson].  Counselor and the Pretty Boys have used the fewest different RBs with three...but the Counselor has not had nearly as much success.  Reggie Bush started strong, and is still averaging a respectable 9.5 pts/game.  However in the 11 starts that were not Reggie, the other Counselor backs have put up an average of only 4.9 points.

QUARTERBACK SCORING

We continue our in depth look at the scoring strengths and weaknesses.

SCORING QUARTERBACKS

The Top 3:

1. ROYALE W/CHEESE
POINTS:  The Cheese have scored 195 points at the QB position

The Cheese have three-time reigning top scoring QB in the PBR league Aaron Rodgers.  He has put up all 195 points at the position this season for the Cheese.  With his bye week this week (week 10), the Cheese will be lead by Ryan Fitzpatrick, and it will be interesting to see what, if any, dropoff occurs.  The top QB trophy is named the "Trick Trophy", but if Coach Cam wins it a fourth time in a row...maybe a renaming is in order.

2. HURRICANES
POINTS:  The Hurricanes have scored 192 points at the QB position

Drew Brees has accounted for 179 of the Hurricanes 192 points.  We would venture a guess that no one could figure out who scored the other 13...but we will tell you it was Kevin Kolb.  The Hurricanes are always solid at the position with Mr Brees, and this season is no different.

3. COUNSELOR
POINTS: Counselor has scored 184 points at the QB position

Counselor stunned this blog editor when he took Robert Griffin III with the 14th pick in the draft.  Counselor already had Michael Vick, and plenty of other holes to fill.  Flash forward to week 10, and you will see that it was actually an incredibly smart move.  Griffin III has scored more points for his team than any of the 13 picks taken before him...and he didn't even start week 1 for Counselor.  Interestingly enough, the next highest scorer in the top 13 picks is Andrew Luck who was taken 5th overall by the Roommates.

The Bottom 3:

10. K-911s
POINTS: The K-911s have scored 136 points at the QB position

The have struggled at QB for years.  They made a big move this season by trading stud RB LeSean McCoy for five players: Rashard Mendenhall, Julius Peppers, Daniel Thomas, Steve Johnson, and QB Matt Schaub.  While Schaub has been an improvement for the K-911s, his 97 points in the first 7 weeks ranked the K-911s last in the league.  Luckily, Coach Lou added Josh Freeman.  Freman has put up 39 points in his first two starts for the K-911s...pulling the team out of the cellar, and keeping them in the playoff conversation.

11. PRETTY BOYS
POINTS: The Pretty Boys have scored 133 points at the QB position

The answer to the Pretty Boys QB sturggles is not easy to find.  Both Tony Romo and Joe Flacco are on the roster.  Romo has started 6 games and Flacco 3.   One of those starts a piece was a no-brainer decision since one or the other had a by week.  Out of the remaining 7 weeks, Coach Danneker played the right QB 5 times.  A great percentage.  So, he is making the right decisions, and Romo has averaged over 16 points a game in his last four starts.  I would venture a guess that the Pretty Boys don't remain in the bottom 3 for long.

12.  SOUP CAN
POINTS:  The Soup Can has scored 125 points at the QB position

If these rankings were posted after week 7, the Soup Can and QB Eli Manning would be in the upper half of the rankings.  However, since Eli has only managed to average FOUR points a game in his last two starts...the Soup Can finds themselves in the Quarterback Cellar.  Manning is the only QB on the Soup's roster at the moment.  It will be interesting to see who Coach Bell will start in place of Manning during his week 11 bye.  If Manning can get his act back together, the Soup Can should be able to climb back out of the bottom 3.

RANKINGS

  1. ROYALE W/CHEESE   195
  2. HURRICANES   192
  3. COUNSELOR   184
  4. FELONS   179
  5. RIGGINS   174
  6. BUZZCOCKS   158
  7. ROOMMATES   155
  8. FREEMASONS   151
  9. FLUFFERNUTTER   144
  10. K-911s    136
  11. PRETTY BOYS   133
  12. SOUP CAN   125

SCORING DEFENSE!

With the trade deadline approaching, we here at the Blue Ribbon Blog will be diving deep into the stats to analyze the strengths and weaknesses of each team.
Today we start with Offense and Defense.  It would take forever to write about all of the teams, so we will write about the top 3 and bottom 3.

SCORING DEFENSE

The Top 3:

1. PRETTY BOYS
POINTS:  The Pretty Boys have scored 504 of their 1040 points on defense (48.46%)

The Pretty Boys have been dominant on defense.  They rank in the top half of the league in all four positions, including being the top LB scorers in the league by 30 points.  Kicker Jason Hanson has turned in a quality season, and though DL Jared Allen isn't having his typical statistical year...he has still scored well enough to be #3 among all defensive lineman.  Even when Sean Weatherspoon went down with an injury, Coach Danneker found and plugged in Lavonte David and he has scored in double digits both games.

2. FREEMASONS
POINTS:  The Freemasons have scored 494.5 of their 1032.5 points on defense (47.89%)

The Freemasons have been carried by their Defensive Backs.  Charles Tillman is having an MVP caliber season, while Ronde Barber sits just outside of the top five scorers.  In fact, the Freemasons DBs have scored 25 points more than the next highest team (Riggins).  Young rookie DL Chandler Jones has been a steady force for the Masons as he currently ranks #6 in scoring.  Only injuries and a pedestrian kicking game have help this squad back.  The Freemasons do lead the league in number of different kickers started, with 4 on the season.

3. FELONS
POINTS: The Felons have scored 469.5 of their 1117.5 points on defense (42.01%)

Strong front four play has kept the Felons defensive motors running.  Jason Pierre-Paul and Chad Greenway are both top five contributors.  It is in the kicking game and secondary where the Felons will need more points to keep pace with the top two defenses in the PBR league.  Kam Chancellor and George Wilson came into the season with high hopes and higher projections...and while they haven't quite lived up to them, they are putting up enough points to remain competitive.  New Kicker Sebastian Janikowski has shored up the kicking game for the Felons as he has averaged just over 11 points in his three games with the team.

The Bottom 3:

10. ROOMMATES
POINTS: The Roommates have scored 407 of their 969 points on defense (42.0%)

The Roommates boast the second best scoring LB duo...but even that can't keep this squad out of the gutter.  LBs Patrick Willis and DeMarcus Ware have put together great seasons, but the DBs have faltered.  The Roommates rand dead last in DB scoring, averaging 4.75 pts per player a game.  If you compare that to the league leading Freemasons, the Roommates score just half of what the Masons do.  The kicking game hasn't helped, as the Roommates rank 10th out of the 12 teams.

11. HURRICANES
POINTS: The Hurricanes have scored 382 of their 1059 points on defense (36.07%)

Problems on the defensive line and in the linebacker positions has lead to the Hurricanes near bottom ranking.  The Canes rank dead last in DL scoring, and 11th in LB scoring.  Luckily their kicking game ranks third, or this defense would really be in trouble.  The players DL have yet to score in double figures this season, and if you add BOTH DL players they have scored in double figures just twice.  It is not from a lack of trying...the Canes have had 6 different DL and 7 different LB play throughout the year.

12.  BUZZCOCKS
POINTS:  The Buzzcocks have scored 381 of their 942 points on defense (40.45%)
The kicking game has been the only group on the defensive side to rank in the top half of the league for the Buzz...and even they only come in at 6th.  The Buzz simply hasn't been able to find a line up that they like, starting 16 different players in the the 6 defensive spots.  Only DL Chris Clemmons has been with the team the entire season.

TOP OFFENSES!

SCORING OFFENSE

The Top 3:

1. FLUFFERNUTTER
POINTS:  The Fluff have scored 677 of their 1099 points on offense (61.6%)

The Fluff are a perfect example of an explosive and deep offense.  They have the top Running Back duo in the league (Adrian Peterson #2 in RB scoring and Ray Rice #3 RB), as well as the top scoring Wide Receiver of the year (Brandon Marshall).  Their only weakness on offense has  been the Quarterback position where they rank 9th...even though they have scored in double digits at the position all season.

1. HURRICANES
POINTS:  The Hurricanes have scored 677 of their 1059 points on offense (63.93%)

The Hurricanes finished week 9 tied for Scoring Offense.  The are very well balanced on offense, as they rank in the top 5 of all four categories (#2 QB/ #4 RB/ #4 WR/ #1 TE).  The strong season from Marshawn Lynch, as well as the continued success of Drew Brees and Rob Gronkowski have carried the Hurricanes squad.

3. FELONS
POINTS: The Felons have scored 648 of their 1117.5 points on offense (57.99%)

The Felons have received great stats this season at Quarterback from the never-aging Tom Brady.  WRs Roddy White and Vincent Jackson have exceeded expectations and have the Felons as the second best WR scoring team.  The re-emergence of TE Jason Witten helped move the team into the third spot, barely edging the Royale w/ Cheese.

The Bottom 3:

10. FREEMASONS
POINTS: The Freemasons have scored 538 of their 1032.5 points on offense (52.11%)

The Freemasons have struggled across the board on Offense.  Their top performing position are the WRs who rank 7th in the league.  QB Cam Newton has struggled to maintain consistent scoring, and the RBs are not much better.  The Freemason RBs have scored in single digits 10 out of 18 times this season.

11. PRETTY BOYS
POINTS: The Pretty Boys have scored 536 of their 1040 points on offense (51.54%)

The Pretty Boys have scored the smallest percentage of points on the offensive side of the ball.  In fact, coming into week 9, the boys from Goodview were the only team that had their defense OUTSCORING their offense!  It is not all bad news though...the Pretty Boys have the second best running back stable in the league.  Rookies Doug Martin and Trent Richardson and veteran Willis McGahee have performed much better for the team than the rest of the offense.  The QB/WR/ & TE spots all rank 11th in the league.

12.  COUNSELOR
POINTS:  Counselor has scored 498 of their 923 points on offense (53.95%)

Counselor is the lone team to not have scored 500 pts on offense.  In fact, compared to the two teams with the best offenses, Counselor scores 19.8 points a game less on offense.  Even against the league average, Counselor is giving up 9+ points per game.  There is one bright light though, as Robert Griffin III has Counselor ranked #3 at QB.

Final thoughts on OFFENSE...
The top teams have scored so much that only five teams have exceed the league average...the three here and the CHEESE and SOUP CAN.

WEEK 4 PREDICTIONS

I never got around to posting the predictions from last week...but here they are, along with this week's guesses.

WEEK 3
ESPN = 4-2  (Lost when picking Cheese and Pretty Boys)
POWER RANKINGS = 4-2 (Lost when picking Counselor and Pretty Boys)
EDITOR = 4-2 (Lost when picking Counselor and Pretty Boys)

SO the total for the year is:
ESPN = 7-5
POWER RANKINGS = 8-4
EDITOR = 8-4

WEEK 4

#12 Riggins (0-3) at  #6 Felons (1-2)

ALL-TIME SERIES =  Felons lead the series 4-2

ESPN PICK - RIGGINS

POWER RANKINGS PICK - FELONS

EDITOR PICK - FELONS
Riggins has some studs at all of the offensive positions...but there defense has been up and down all season.  I like the team depth of the FELONS in a close game.

#5 Counselor (2-1) at  #3 Fluffenutter (3-0)

ALL-TIME SERIES =  Fluffernutter lead the series 5-4

ESPN PICK - FLUFFERNUTTER

POWER RANKINGS PICK - FLUFFERNUTTER

EDITOR PICK - FLUFFERNUTTER
This is one that I should take as my upset pick...but you can't pick against the champs, especially when they are undefeated thus far.  If Reggie Bush plays, and plays well, Counselor has a shot.

#7 Hurricanes (2-1) at  #2 Soup Can (1-2)

ALL-TIME SERIES =  Hurricanes lead the series 3-1

ESPN PICK - SOUP CAN

POWER RANKINGS PICK - SOUP CAN

EDITOR PICK - HURRICANES
Going with the upset pick here.  The Hurricanes have a slight edge as far as match-ups for the RBs go.  This game will be decided at the WR and LB positions...and I think the Hurricanes get big enough games from the WRs to win.

#11 Freemasons (1-2) at  #4 K-911s (2-1)

ALL-TIME SERIES =  Series is tied 2-2

ESPN PICK - K-911s

POWER RANKINGS PICK - K-911s

EDITOR PICK - K-911s
The K-911s have too many people that can have big games this week...meaning the Freemasons must snap out of their cold streak in order to have a chance.

#1 Pretty Boys (2-1) at  #10 Roommates (1-2)

ALL-TIME SERIES =  Roommates lead the series 1-0

ESPN PICK - ROOMMATES

POWER RANKINGS PICK - PRETTY BOYS

EDITOR PICK - PRETTY BOYS
The Roommates lit up the scoreboard last week, and I just don't think Jamaal Charles puts up 30+ points again. If he does, this game gets interesting.  The Pretty Boys have one of the, if not the, top scoring defenses in the league.  If they continue that trend, the Boys should pull out the win.

#8 Buzzcocks (1-2) at  #9 Royale W/Cheese (1-2)

ALL-TIME SERIES =  These two teams have never met.

ESPN PICK - ROYALE W/CHEESE

POWER RANKINGS PICK - BUZZCOCKS

EDITOR PICK - ROYALE W/CHEESE
The Buzz have been an extremely hot...or extremely cold team.  I am thinking this week they are cold.  The Cheese will always score, so you must score even more to beat them.  I don't think the Buzz are set-up to do that this week.

WEEK 3 RESULTS UPDATED

I apologize for the delay...but the WEEK 3 stats are entered.  See where you and your team ranks on offense, defense, and all-time!

PLAYER AWARDS UPDATED!

The Individual Player award races have been updated.  So far the BUZZ and COUNSELOR would be taking home $20 for leading two categories a piece, while the K-911s, FLUFF, ROOMMATES, and CHEESE would pocket $10 a piece for wins.

The PRETTY BOYS and the FREEMASONS have 5 scores a piece in the top 40...followed closely by the BUZZ, COUNSELOR, K-911s, and CHEESE with 4 players.  The HURRICANES, SOUP, and FLUFF bring three of the top 40 to play...with the ROOMMATES and FELONS offering two top players a piece.  RIGGINS still has one man in play in the money race.

POWER RANKINGS AND CAREER RECORDS UPDATED!

Hey coaches, the POWER RANKINGS have been updated...and the PRETTY BOYS are the new top team in Blue Ribbon World.  Every team moved up or down in the rankings this week...so be sure to see where you sit.

The Power Rankings correctly picked 4 out of the 6 winners last week...only losing the 9/10 and 11/12 battles.

ALSO, the Career stats are updated too!  Go see where you rank!

WEEK 2 PREDICTIONS

It is time to predict what will happen in WEEK 2.  Last year the POWER RATINGS correctly picked the winner of 70% of the games...not too bad considering the inexact world of fantasy football.  This year the Blue Ribbon Blog will make picks too!
***After the scoring updates on Thursday, the BUZZCOCKS took sole possession of 2nd place in the Power Rankings.  This is reflected in the predictions, but not updated on the sidebar.

Pretty Boys (#3) at Freemasons (#5)

ALL-TIME SERIES =  Freemasons lead the series 4-2-1

ESPN PICK - PRETTY BOYS

POWER RANKINGS PICK - PRETTY BOYS

EDITOR PICK - PRETTY BOYS
It looks like the Pretty Boys have better match-ups across the board on offense.  The only way the Freemasons win is if their defense carries them like it did in week 1.

Felons (#9) at K-911s (#10)

ALL-TIME SERIES =  Felons lead the series 6-1.

ESPN PICK - FELONS

POWER RANKINGS PICK - FELONS

EDITOR PICK - FELONS
I think that the Felons will win the battle of RBs...and it will be enough to squeak out a win.  A lot of this game will come down to how successful K-911 QB Schaub and RB Foster do...they have the potential to win the game by themselves.

Riggins (#11) at Roommates (#12)

ALL-TIME SERIES =
 Roommates lead the series 1-0.

ESPN PICK - RIGGINS

POWER RANKINGS PICK - RIGGINS

EDITOR PICK - ROOMMATES
I am going out on a limb here.  Riggins looks more explosive on paper, but the Roommates have some good matchups this week.  Also, I think the Roommates defense has a good percentage chance of posting huge numbers.

The Counselor (#1) at Buzzcocks (#2)

ALL-TIME SERIES =
This is the first game in this series.

ESPN PICK - BUZZCOCKS

POWER RANKINGS PICK - COUNSELOR

EDITOR PICK - COUNSELOR
This game is a toss up for me...so I went with the higher rated team in the Power Rankings.  It should be the Buzzcocks game to lose...but Counselor has Jesus Christ (RGIII) and a strong defense.  This game could come down to Reggie Bush vs. BenJarvus Green-Ellis...and I think Bush scores more.

Royale W/Chesse (#4t) at Purple Hurricanes (#4t)

ALL-TIME SERIES =
 Hurricanes lead the series 4-2.

ESPN PICK - HURRICANES

POWER RANKINGS PICK - HURRICANES

EDITOR PICK - HURRICANES
I hate ever picking against the Cheese, but I just don't think this is their week.  The Hurricanes have great match-ups and homefield advantage...I think the Canes win in a shootout.

Soup Can (#8) at Fluffernutter (#7)

ALL-TIME SERIES =
 Fluff lead the series 4-3.

ESPN PICK - FLUFF

POWER RANKINGS PICK - FLUFF

EDITOR PICK - SOUP
The Soup Can need this win to keep pace with the Freemasons.  And no one circles the wagons like Chris Bell and the Soup Can.  I think the Fluff make this game very, very interesting though.  The defending champs will not go down easily to anyone...but I think they fall in this game by less than five points.

WEEK 1 MATCHUPS: Part 2

I broke up the article into two parts...simply to make the reading easier.  Here is part 2!

Freemasons 115.5
Soup Can 108.5

WHAT WENT RIGHT: The winner of this matchup has gone on to win the division in each of the last three seasons...so, this was a huge win for the Freemasons.  A strong effort from the defensive line, who put up the top two of the top five totals at the position (it was the top two, but a stat correction removed a sack from Greg Hardy), lead the team to victory.  On offense, the players the Freemasons relied upon from last season showed up to play against the Soup as Cam Newton, Miles Austin, and Ahmad Bradshaw all had strong games.

COACH BELL CELEBRATES DEFEAT
WHAT WENT WRONG: Honestly, not a whole lot went wrong.  The difference in the game can be attributed to mostly to the battle on the defensive line.  The Soup Can were outscored 19-4 in the trenches, which proved to be the difference.  There are eight position battles to win in a game like this (QB, RB, WR, TE, DL, LB, DB, K)...and the two teams were spilt evenly with the Soup winning four (RB, WR, TE, LB) and the Freemasons winning four (QB, DL, DB, K).  The Soup was +19 points in the categories he won, but lost the other four by a combined 26 points...meaning the Freemasons were able to keep it close enough to pull out the win in the end.
"Hmmm...I was writing my thesis," Coach Bell muttered, "was there a game this week?"
There was a game, and this game likely just handed the Freemasons the division.

Counselor 124.5
Hurricanes 112

WHAT WENT RIGHT: Practically everything went right for the Counselor this week.  You need to have everything in your favor to knock off the Hurricanes, and Counselor did by posting the third highest score, while still leaving 18 useable points on the bench.  The Counselor had lost 6 straight to the Hurricanes, meaning you have to go all the way back to 2008 (the inaugural season) to find the last time a Counselor team won (they swept both games against the Hurricanes that year).  The series has been so lopsided that the Hurricanes won the previous 6 games by an average score of 128.5 to 98.  So, as you can see, coach Richard Council was ecstatic to pull this win out.
"Whew!" Council yelled. "Finally, I am not planning for next season after week 1!"

WHAT WENT WRONG: The Hurricanes were plagued by surprisingly uninspired play from their Wide Receivers and Defensive Line.  The Receivers put up a combined 9 points, with Wes Welker kicking in only 1 pt.  The defensive front combined to put up 2 points, with young Bruce Irvin registering the only goose egg in the contest.  The Hurricanes were explosive at the QB and RB slots though, with a combined 54 points, led by 21 points from Drew Brees and 22 points from Kevin Smith.

Fluffernutter 112
Riggins 108

WHAT WENT RIGHT:  Fluffernutter has owned Riggins in the past.  You have to go back to Week 7 of the 2009 season to find the last time Riggins was able to get a victory in this series.  In that game, the Fluff had one of their worst performances, with only 3 players reaching double figures, and putting up a meager 83 points.  Well, this team is not starting Matt Cassel and Brian Westbrook...they are lead by the amazing Ray Rice and Matthew Stafford.  The Fluff won this game with Adrian Peterson and his 20 points on the bench!  It is rumored that the Fluff was simply taking it easy on Riggins, treating the week 1 matchup as a pre-season scrimmage before their REAL first game against the Soup Can in week 2.
"I got two words for you," a clearly looking-ahead Coach Abbott exclaimed, "Champion. Ship."

WHAT WENT WRONG: The front four (DL & LB) simply did not perform well enough to win.  They registered just 15 points between the four players...or an average of 3.75 points a piece.  Otherwise, on offense Peyton Manning (20 points) lead a strong offensive showing.  The RBs dropped 30 points on the Fluff defense, and TE Aaron Hernandez kicked in another 11.  There wasn't much help on the bench, as Coach Holicky had 0 useable points there to help him out.  So, he started all the right guys...they just didn't score enough.

WEEK 1 MATCHUPS: Part 1

It was an exciting first weekend in the Seattle Blue Ribbon League!  Take a look at some of the post-game analysis!

Goodview PrettyBoys 132.5
Rainier Valley Felons 103.5

WHAT WENT RIGHT:  It doesn't matter what the records are, these two teams always battle.  You would, however, have to go all the way back to Week 1 of the 2009 season to find the last Pretty Boys team to defeat the Felons.  2009 was the Pretty Boys won the Queen Anne Division, and they could not be happier to get this win to kickoff 2012.
"First of all, the Felons can suck it," coach Danneker said from his piano at his weekly press conference. "Second, I guarantee a championship for Goodview this year!  Yeah, I said it!  Print that shit!"
The Pretty Boys used a completely balanced attack to take down their rivals.  The Offense put up 67 points, while the Defense and special teams kicked in 65.5.  Tony Romo got things started with 23 points, and the good looking Goodview team never looked back.

WHAT WENT WRONG: The Felons were bitten a bit by injuries.  Jason Witten was a game-time decision, and starting RB Ryan Matthews was unable to go.  This left the Felons to choose between DeAngelo Williams and Shonn Greene...and coach Harber chose wrong.  Williams put up a big fat goose egg, while Greene rumbled to 19 points.
"Hey, what can I say?" Harber said while riding the Light Rail to practice, "The Pretty Boys are the team to beat this year.  We knew we couldn't beat them, so we saved our good stuff for the K-911s this week.  Nothing makes me happier than destroying Lou Olsen."

Buzzcocks 131
K-911s 107

WHAT WENT RIGHT: The Buzzcocks could not have asked for a better start to their first season in the Seattle Blue Ribbon League. Coach Shawn Law took over a team (The Manti) that lost 9 straight games to end last season.  But with some gutsy draft picks, this newly motivated team shellacked the K-911s.
"Look here," Law shouted in the pre-game locker room, "First place? We win and we get laid.  We lose...there is not third place."
Many thought the misquoted Glengarry speech was a rather strange way to fire up the team, but it worked.  QB Matt Ryan put up the game of the week as he punished the K-911s for 31 points.  The Buzzcocks will have to be more balanced though, as 5 of their 13 starters combined for 70% of the team's score.

WHAT WENT WRONG: The K-911s left a bunch of points on the bench.  Granted, it would not have been enough to win, but Navarro Bowman's 14.5 points would have really lifted the squad more than starter Mathias Kiwanuka's 1 point.
"Well, the thing we are most proud of this week," Olsen said while watching his Milwaukee Brewers race back into the playoff picture, "is that we already have 7 guys with injury designations.  The next closest team only has four...so we are twice as good at getting hurt!"

Royale W/Cheese 114.5
Roommates 98

WHAT WENT RIGHT: The Cheese are the highest scoring team per game in PBR league history.  And while the scoreboard might not show that this week, you have to realize that the Cheese left 29.5  points on the bench.  All but one position on offense scored double digit points, showing the team's depth and explosiveness.  The scariest number is that 6 guys on the team put up almost 76% of the points.  So, once that defense finds its way to points...watch out opponents!
"Zippity Zoop! Bring on the Hurricanes!" Coach Cam said while doing his well revered Bill Cosby impression.

WHAT WENT WRONG: The Roommates went young in this year's draft.  It may lead to a bit of a sluggish start, but Coach Gomez showed he was quite a line-up whisperer last season...meaning he could get points from the most unexpected of places.  The place where the Roommates lost this game was on the defensive side of the ball.  Gomez is known for his love of defensive athletes, but in this game the DL and DBs combined to score just 10 points.  Gomez will likely get more from these players in the coming weeks, as well as more experience from his young offense.  So, while it is never good to take a loss, this team is much stronger than the effort it put forward this week.
