WEEK 9 PREVIEW!

Oklahoma City Wilsons   (5-3)   vs. Purple Hurricanes   (4-4)
The Hurricanes have won 5 out of the 8 matchups against the Wilsons in this series.  The Wilsons have not beaten the Hurricanes in the Regular Season since 2009.  In the past 4 Regular Season matchups, the Wilsons have come closer and closer to victory.  They lost by:
2010 = 46.5 points
2011 = 31 points
2012 = 15 points
2013 = 8.5 points.
Most of the damage by the Hurricanes in the recent games has come from the Drew Brees / Rob Gronkowski connection.   Brees has averaged 24 and Gronkowski 17.5 in the last two games these two teams have played.  Both the Power Rankings and ESPN favor the Wilson this time, however coach Bell knows he has to stop that duo to win.

South Lake Devil Dogs   (5-3)   vs.   Eddie Royale w/Cheese   (3-5)
This is the first meeting between the Cheese and the Devil Dogs.  The Devil Dogs are fresh off of a thrashing of his Queen Anne Rival Pretty Boys.  The Dogs put up 154.5 points, and with adjusted scoring (using the bench points that would have created the optimal lineup) the team would have scored 174 points.  The Dogs left 18.5 on the bench from RB Lorenzo Taliaferro, and 1 pt from Kendall Wright.  The 174 points represents the highest adjusted points scored in the league this season.  The Cheese dropped a tough game to the Felons in week 8.  Cheese QB Aaron Rodgers put up 24 in the loss, but the other 5 offensive players kicked in a total of 22 pts.  To date, the Cheese have the 2nd lowest scoring RBs and WRs.  If they can get some more production in those spots, things could really turn around for coach Cam.  Both the Power Ranking and ESPN are picking the Devil Dogs to win this game.

Rainier Valley Felons   (2-6)   vs.   Riggins   (6-2)
The Felons have won 5 of the 8 battles with Riggins.  The Felons second ranked scoring defense will take on Riggins’ top ranked scoring offense.  Riggins is averaging 27.6 points/game more on offense than the Felons, so the defense may not even come into play.  Riggins won this matchup in 2013 by 15 points, 118.5-103.5.  In that game, the Felons had 33 points from Tom Brady, but the 2 RBS and 2 WRS combined for 6 points.  Riggins was on pace to set the all-time scoring mark before last week, but fell off the pace after putting up only 104 in Week 8.  Riggins is aiming to put up 162 points this week to get back on pace for the scoring record.  The Power Rankings pick Riggins to win, while ESPN sides with the Felons.

L.A. LAW(UP)YERS   (5-3)   vs.    Fluffernutter   (3-5)
Shawn Law and the Law(up)yers have yet to taste victory in this series.  The Fluff have won both matchups, and by a swell average margin of 29 points per game.  Not many in the league would have predicted such an up and down season for the usually solid Fluff.  The loss of Adrian Peterson and the health of Jimmy Graham have led to inconsistent play.  In 3 wins, the Fluff has averaged almost 144 points per game.  While in their 5 losses, they have put up just over 97 points…that is a difference of 47 points per game!  The LAW has put up an average of 123 points per game over their last 4, but only came away with 2 victories (in a sort of statistical anomaly, both LAW and his opponents have scored 493 points over the 4 games!).  Both ESPN and the Power Rankings like the Fluff to continue their winning ways this week.

Fighting Freemasons   (1-7)   vs.   The Counselor   (3-5)
The Freemasons are 4-2 against the Counselor.  The Freemasons come in off a tough loss in Week 8.  The team put up its second highest scoring output of the year with 117.5 points, but still lost by 25.  The Counselor comes in after a big victory over arch rival Chris Bell and the Wilsons.  Counselor did leave QB Ben Roethlisberger and his 44 points on the bench, but plans to start the stud QB against the Freemasons this week.  Both the Power Rankings and ESPN expect Counselor to stay on a roll and come out victorious in week 9.

Westwood Animals   (5-3)   vs.   Goodview Pretty Boys   (6-2)
The Queen Anne Division leading Pretty Boys, and the and the Columbia City leading Animals will face off in week 9 for just the fourth time.  The Animals took the first two games in the series, but the Pretty Boys were able to take the “W” last year behind 19 points from Tony Romo and 38 points from the WR corps.  Andrew Luck scored 24 of the teams 76 points in that game, but simply could not get any help as not a single other player on the team broke double digits in the game.  Luck is the top scoring QB in the league (22.6 points/game over his last 3) and is getting a ton of help from TY Hilton (19.6 points/game in last 3).  The Pretty Boys are a bit banged up heading into this one (5 players listed as questionable heading into the weekend) and will hope to get big games from it League Leading LBS to help slow the Animals offense.  Both ESPN and the Power Rankings like the Animals in this game.

WEEK 8 Preview!

Westwood Animals   (5-2)   vs.   Purple Hurricanes   (3-4)

The Hurricanes are 5-4 lifetime against their division foe.  The Animals have won the last three contests against the Hurricanes though, including their 126.5-110.5 victory earlier this season.  Andrew Luck put up 29.5 points in that game, and he will have to put up big numbers again to counter Drew Brees and the tough Hurricane ground game.  ESPN projects a Hurricane victory, while the Power Rankings are predicting an Animals win.

L.A. LAW(UP)YERS   (4-3) vs. Fighting Freemasons   (1-6)

The LAW(UP)YERS have won 2 of the three match ups with the Freemasons.  The two teams last met in Week 5, with the LAW edging the Masons 114.5 to 108.5.  Phillip Rivers and Matt Forte combined for 41 points in that game, while the Freemasons your RB duo of Crowell and Sankey combined for 3 points.  This game will showcase the two worst defenses in the league...the Masons average 45 pts/gm and LAW averages 41.5 pts/gm.  The PBR League average on defense is 49pts/game.  Both ESPN and the Power Rankings predict a LAW win.

Riggins   (6-1)   vs.   R Fluffernutter   (2-5)

The Fluff lead this series 7 games to 5.  The Fluff have not beat Riggins since 2012, as Coach Holicky has won the last three meetings.  This should be quite a game, as we will see Riggins' top ranked offense (83 points/gm), square off against the Fluff's top ranked defense (53 points/gm).  Riggins is averaging 14 points per player on offense, and is on pace to break the Fluffs All-Time Single Season scoring mark, set in 2011, of 1731.5 points (he is on pace to break it by just over one point!).  Both ESPN and the Power Rankings predict a close game with Riggins prevailing in the end.

Oklahoma City Wilsons   (5-2)   vs.   The Counselor   (2-5)

The Wilsons are 6-1 against the Counselor, and have won 6 in a row.  Their lone defeat to the Counselor was a 114-112 loss all the way back in 2008 (though, since it was the Yahoo year, that loss may be scrubbed from the record once the Yahoo season ceases to exist).  The Wilson drubbed the Counselor by 68.5 points last season, so the Counselor will be seeking to put forth a stronger effort this season.  Both ESPN and the Power Rankings predict that the Wilsons will run off to victory.

Rainier Valley Felons   (1-6)   vs.   Eddie Royale w/Cheese   (3-4)

6 wins in 10 contests has the Cheese leading this series.  Last season the Cheese won the game 108.5-102, despite having both Darren Sproles and Greg Jennings score 0 points.  Both teams are averaging around 105 points per game this season, but the Cheese look to keep the points rolling in after popping off for 130 last week.  The last time the Felons beat the Cheese was in the playoffs in 2012, the year they notched their second league title. Both ESPN and the Power Ranking predict the Cheese to squeak out a close win this week.

Goodview Pretty Boys    (6-1)   vs.   South Lake Devil Dogs   (4-3)

Match up number 2 between the two brothers of the Queen Anne Division.  Trick Danneker and the Pretty Boys took game one 107-76.5.  The Pretty Boys got 26 points from their defense, while the entire defense and special teams of the Devil Dogs put up 26.5.  The Pretty Boys have yet to score under 100 points this season, and boast the league's second rated defense (1.5 points behind the Fluff).  The Devil Dogs, meanwhile, have the league's worst scoring offense and are the only team in the league that gets more points from its defense than its "o" (50.4% of season points are on the defensive side).  Devil Dog J.J. Watt is the top defensive lineman in the league, but the Pretty Boys can counter with the top scoring Linebacker Lavonte David.  Both ESPN and The Power Rankings are siding with the Pretty Boys.

WEEK 7 Preview!~

FELONS (1-5) VS HURRICANES (2-4)

Felons lead the all time series with 4 wins and 3 losses, with the Felons winning the last 3 contests.  This battle of past champions is a must-win for both teams if either wants to keep slim playoff hopes alive.

WILSONS (4-2)  VS FREEMASONS (1-5)

The Freemasons finally pulled out a win last week...but now they face the Wilsons.  The Wilsons have won 8 of the 13 matchups, including the last three in a row.  A win for the Wilson would mean a the world to Coach Bell, as there is no other coach in the league he hates to lose to more...except Trick Danneker.

ROYALE W/CHEESE (2-4) VS COUNSELOR (2-4)

Counselor holds the upper hand in the all-time series 4 wins to 3.  Both teams are 2-4...if not for the Felons/Hurricanes matchup, this would easily be the candidate for "least watched game of the week".  The Cheese hope to break their 3 game losing streak, while Counselor would love a win after a tough loss last week.

FLUFFERNUTTER (2-4)  VS PRETTY BOYS (5-1)

The Pretty Boys have won 6 of the 8 meetings in this series.  The Fluff ran to victory last season 117.5-103.  The Fluff are a Jekyll/Hyde team this season.  In 2 wins, the team averages 138 pts per game, but in the 4 losses could only muster up 97.  The Pretty Boys have only lost to defending champ Riggins this season, if you don't include the loss of the "supposed" first league title (still being voted on as of printing)

RIGGINS (5-1) VS LAW(UP)YERS (4-2)

One of the Primetime Matchups this week!  Riggins has only won 1 of the 3 meetings against coach Shawn Law.  However, as the top rated team in the Power Rankings, Riggins should prevail over the Law.  The LAW has played the easiest schedule in the league thus far, so this week should show us what they are truly made of.

DEVIL DOGS (4-2) VS ANIMALS (4-2)

The PBR Game of the week.  These two coaches have never met before.  Coach Gomez's squad put up an astounding 167 pts in week 6, and is looking to pile on the points in an effort to catch Riggins as the #1 Scoring Team.  The Dogs are still an enigma in this league.  They have the second best scoring bench...and have played the second easiest schedule..which team will show up this week?
