League Wrap-Up

Ballard, WA-  Here's a wrap-up of the final two games of week 1:

Ballard Kittens 95 - Mighty Manti 97.5
Andrew Miller, Mighty Manti

The Manti pinted a gameplan and earned a big victory in what appears to be a very tough Ballard Division.  Matt Forte scored 30 pts for Coach Miller, with Carson Palmer kicking in 20 from the QB position.  The Kittens got a good game out of Eli Manning (16 pts) and Greg Jennings (14 pts)...and still lost to The Mighty Manti who had 3 players put up 0 points.

"It's games like this," Kittens Coach Zach Gaul said, "that make me wish I was at the draft.  Or make me wanna retire.  I will go with retire.  Losing to The Manti makes me want to retire."

The Miighty Manti (1-0) host the Purple Hurricanes (1-0) in a match that will determine the most surprising team to start the season.  Meanwhile, The Kittens (0-1) host Riggins (0-1).  No real importance to this game though, sort of like watching St. Louis play Oakland this weekend...can we even call it football?

R. Fluffernutter 99.5 - Riggins 90
It was a close, hard fought, and nearly had an enormous comeback from Riggins, but in the end the Fluffernutter pulled it out (thats what she said).  Riggins scored only 42 pts on offense compared to Fluffernutter's 53 pts, and that proved to be the difference.

Ben Holicky said of the game, "A Riggins-Fluffernutter game is like nuclear warfare. There are no winners, only survivors."

There were survivors in this game...but maybe not at the QB position.  These two teams have arguably the best RB tandems in the league, but got only 5 pts (Alex Smith, Fluff) and 6 pts (Matt Shaub, Riggins) from the QB position.  And one can not forget the famous Don Shula quote, "Sure, luck means a lot in football. Not having a good quarterback is bad luck. "

Riggins (0-1) will travel to Ballard to play the Kittens (0-1) but fans won't be able to watch.  For the fist time in Blue Ribbon League history, the game will be blacked out (a black screen is more interesting than the football these two teams will play).  Fluffernutter (1-0) hosts the K-911s (1-0) on Monday Night Football to close out week 2.
